Water Distribution and Wastewater Collections Operator and Public Works Agent (Member of a Five Person Crew) Classification:
Full Time (40)-hours - Five (8)-hour shifts (Non-Exempt-OT Allowed) Salary compensation for this position shall be based upon experience, skills, certification and ability to perform the necessary job duties.
Salary Range $20 - $23 / hour General Statement of Duties:
This position is responsible for operation, construction and maintenance of City of Kimberly public water supply facilities, wastewater collection facilities and city-maintained pressure irrigation supply systems.
This position will be responsible for maintaining City of Kimberly city park amenities, equipment and landscaping.
Routine city street maintenance including street cleaning, street repair, sign placement; street construction and traffic control must be performed as needed.
This position is responsible for maintenance of city infrastructure, performing basic automotive maintenance tasks and other duties as assigned by the Public Works Supervisor and Public Works Director.
Supervision Received:
This position will work directly under the Public Works Supervisor.
Examples of Work (Illustrative Only):
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate, maintain and identify public water supply facilities and extend city services when prompted.
Obtain Water Distribution OIT license within twelve months of accepting City of Kimberly employment (Dismissal for not acquiring certification within the specified period).
Must obtain Distribution 1 license when sufficient experience is obtained.
Operate, maintain and identify wastewater collection facilities and extend city services when prompted.
Maintain and service RV dump station.
Obtain Wastewater Collection OIT within twelve months of accepting City of Kimberly employment.
(Dismissal for not acquiring certification within the specified period).
Must obtain WW Collection 1 license when sufficient experience is obtained.
Obtain Class B commercial driver's license with Tanker and Air brake endorsements within twelve months of employment at the employee's expense.
The City will consider CDL class time necessary for completion of the commercial driver's certification during the day as regular time.
CDL in-class time is not eligible for overtime or per diem compensation.
Operate and maintain city owned surface water pressure irrigation facilities Maintain city residential and collector street systems, sidewalks, curb and gutter features Utilize snowplow equipment during the winter to clear road systems and sand icy road surfaces as needed to ensure safe driving conditions Install and maintain street signs, traffic control and barricades.
Flagging and traffic control assistance must be performed when needed.
Locate and identify public utility locations when prompted.
Maintain city park equipment, grounds (including but not limited to mowing, trimming and weed control), landscaping (including but not limited to pruning and weed control) and amenities and install supplemental features when prompted.
Maintain grounds (including but not limited to weed control) adjacent to street signage, city common areas and city owned structures, including city hall, library, dog kennel area and RV dump station.
Perform basic automotive maintenance; maintain city owned structures, including HEPA filter changeouts Perform basic electrical service, including but not limited to changing bulbs, replacing ballasts, replacing lighting fixtures, transducer change-outs and power outlet replacements.
Perform basic carpentry, concrete placement and road patch work functions as needed Week long On Call Duty in a rotating schedule.
Must respond to public service requests, emergencies and monitor operation 24/7 while on call On Call employee is responsible for monitoring dog kennel and ensuring dogs have sufficient water, food and a suitable environment on weekends, holidays and perform dog capture duties when code enforcement officer is unavailable Other public works duties as requested or assigned Professionalism & Communication Proper and respectful communication with the Public Works Supervisor and cross functional team members Maintain a professional, positive and courteous demeaner at all times Provide timely, respectful and thorough customer service Maintain a proper professional image and generate a positive public image All other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Acquire knowledge and certification necessary to operate and maintain water, wastewater and pressure irrigation facilities Able to use people skills to motivate teammates and apply organizational and operational practices for the public works department Able to apply City policies and procedures Able to work individually and within a team setting Able to work safely.
Utilize lock-out/tag-out; Cognitive of confined space entry protocols and the use of the appropriate level of personal protective gear Special Qualifications Must possess or obtain a valid State of Idaho driver's license without record of suspension or revocation in any state Must acquire Class-B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker and air-brake endorsement within a year of employment Must possess High School Diploma or GED equivalent Essential Physical Abilities The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 70 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job, include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
Eye protection is required when working with caustics, hot or electrified hazards The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to loud.
Ear protection is required when noise levels exceed 80 decibels There are situations on the job when an air respirator is necessary to safely perform job functions.
A suitable air respirator mask fit test must be acquired within six months of starting employment.
An air respirator mask may need to be worn at any time for perform day to day maintenance functions.
